TDS Liberia helps communities understand their rights, discuss past violations and participate in national processes concerning justice and reconciliation. Programs translate legal and policy issues into accessible information that people can examine in relation to their own experiences.
Radio programmes, documentaries, participatory theatre and community dialogues provide platforms for survivors, community leaders, women and young people to discuss the effects of conflict. Facilitators manage these conversations carefully to reduce stigma, avoid renewed hostility and protect participants from unnecessary exposure.
Public education explains human-rights protections, transitional-justice mechanisms, reporting procedures and the responsibilities of public institutions. Content may address accountability for wartime violations, reparations, memorialization, reconciliation and institutional reform. TDS Liberia distinguishes verified information from rumor and creates opportunities for residents to question officials, advocates and technical specialists.
Community feedback allows affected people to describe their priorities and identify barriers to justice. Listening sessions, call-in programmes, interviews and structured consultations can document concerns about access, safety, representation and institutional response. Findings are communicated to relevant civil-society organizations and public bodies when consent and protection requirements have been met.
TDS Liberia also supports dialogue between groups divided by conflict, land disputes, political tensions or social exclusion. Activities focus on acknowledging harm, understanding competing accounts and identifying steps that communities can take without replacing formal justice processes.
All work in this area should apply conflict-sensitivity, informed-consent, confidentiality and referral procedures. TDS Liberia’s role is to support informed participation and public dialogue, while qualified protection, legal and psychosocial service providers handle cases requiring specialist assistance.
